The Italian Culture Institute Shanghai and Performa celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the publication of the Futurist Manifesto (republished in Shanghai in 1921, had an enormous influence on the artists of the period), with an event dedicated to experiments in cinema and music.

Shanghai Comtemporary artists Mai Mai and Jun Yuan have drawn inspiration from Futurist Cinema Manifesto to create a live music performance that explores the unexpressed potential of moving images through minimalist sounds and noisy symphonies, and have linked it to the famous Walter Ruttmann’s movie “Berlin, Symphony of a Great City”, a visual symphony in five movements celebrating the Berlin of 1927.
